HOW TO ARRIVE

By car from North-West (Pisa):

Take the highway Fi-Pi-Li (exit Pisa Centro towards A12) and exit at Empoli. Continue in the direction of Siena on SS429 for 25 KM. Once you arrive in Certaldo use this Map:



By car from North-east (Bologna):

From highway A1 take the exit for Firenze Impruneta and take the street towards Firenze-Siena. Exit at Poggibonsi Nord and then follow the signs to Certaldo and follow this Map:



By car from South (Siena):

From Siena take Firenze-Siena junction, direction of Firenze. Exit at Poggibonsi Nord and then follow the signs to Certaldo and follow this Map:



By car from West (San Gimignano o Volterra):

WARNING!
For those using a GPS navigator:

Sometimes the roads proposed to reach Certaldo Alto (in particular Costa degli Alberti) are not passable. We therefore recommend that you type in the GPS the address 'Via del Castello' (43.547035, 11.042588) or 'Via delle Mura' (43.549889, 11.045088) and follow the navigator only when you are inside the historic center.

In Certaldo Alto there is a Limited Traffic Zone

Guests of accommodation facilities are allowed to enter the historic center and stay 30 minutes for loading / unloading. There are two gates, the main one in Via del Castello and the second one in Via delle Mura, both with a video camera. It will be our responsibility to communicate the license plate of the vehicle after arrival.

Parking area:

We do not have private parking. Hotel guests can park for free in the nearby visitor parking located just a few steps from the Hotel (200 meters).

By Train:

Certaldo is located on the train line Firenze-Empoli-Siena. Consult the www.trenitalia.it website for dates and times. Once you have arrived at the station walk up the Via 2 Giugno (with your back to the train station.) After 250 meters you will find yourself in Piazza Boccaccio, take the funicular up to Certaldo Alto (you can buy tickets at the entrance to the funicular.) Hotel Il Castello is the first building on the right when you exit the funicular station at the top.

By Airplane:

The two most important airports are Pisa Galileo Galilei (PSA, 75 km from Certaldo) and Florence (FLR, 55 km from Certaldo). Only the Pisa airport is served by the railway network, while from the Florence airport the railway station can be reached by tram (line 2). Bologna airport sometimes offers alternatives to reach Certaldo.
